    Waikoloa Village Weather & Climate

The north/northwestern tip of The Big Island is lush and green year round. Due to its central location on the island, it is also somewhat in the middle where precipitation is concerned, not quite as dry as the western (leeward) side, but not as wet as the eastern (windward) side. Showers occur year round in this area, but most often at night or in the late afternoon. The temperature is warm throughout the year, only slightly warmer in the summer months, and cooler during the overnight hours. Other important features of the climate on The Big Island include moderate humidity and persistent northeasterly trade winds. In winter, the trade winds may be interrupted for days or weeks by the invasion of cyclones and this brings more rainstorms and southerly and westerly winds to the island.

    About Waikoloa Village

Waikoloa is the best of the Big Island of Hawaii
Waikoloa begins with the cool highlands of Hawaii's ranch country on the Big Island of Hawaii, a great and varied land...gifted with natural beauty, enriched by the life and lore of ancient Polynesia. Waikoloa stretches over the lower slopes of Mauna Kea to the sun-drenched shores of the Pacific Ocean. Waikoloa is simply the best of Hawaii.
Waikoloa Village offers residents and visitors unlimited recreational opportunities. With nearly perfect weather year round you can explore wide open spaces on horseback, view spectacular night skies, golf on an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course, built against a back drop of sun, sea and mountains. The village itself is comprised of its own post office, a supermarket, pharmacy, doctors, video and beach gear rental shop, health food store, 2 banks, a clothing shop, an elementary school and several condominium complexes including the Villas at Waikoloa, the premier condominiums in Waikoloa. Approximately 7000 people live in this growing community.
Within 10 minutes of Waikoloa Village you will find the Waikoloa Beach Resort with its royal fishponds. These ponds had been built and stocked to provide food for the "ali'i" or Hawaiian Royalty long ago. A conservation area fringed by palm trees and cooled by gentle breezes, is an inviting site for a stroll or picnic. Beside the ponds, a crescent of golden sand stretches around the calm waters of a quiet protected bay. You will be able to relax on the beach, swim, sail, snorkel, or skin dive. A few miles offshore is some of the world's best deep sea fishing where fisherman have come halfway around the world to try these waters. Whales migrate every year from December to April.
The Waikoloa Beach Resort also includes the Kings' Shops where you will find several fine restaurants, upscale shopping boutiques, a food court and daily Hawaiian crafts and entertainment. Two signature 18-hole golf courses, the Waikoloa Beach and Kings' Golf Course are also located on the resort. Transportation within the Waikoloa Beach Resort is available for your convenience. The Holoholo Shuttle operates from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily with stops at the Waikoloa Kings' Shops, Shores at Waikoloa, Colony Villas, Hilton Grand Vacations Club, The Bay Club and the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Fare is $1.00 each way.
    How to get to Waikoloa
Upon your exit out of Kona International Airport, head north on Highway 19 also known as Queen Kaahumanu Highway. You will travel approximately 20 minutes until you see your first stop light. Make a left into Waikoloa Beach Resort. Here you will find the Beach Villas, Fairway Villas, Colony Villas, Vistas Waikoloa and Shores at Waikoloa. Directional signs will guide you to each complex in the resort. To get to Waikoloa Village, keep heading north until you reach the second stoplight. Make a right on Waikoloa Road and head on up the hill about 8 - 10 minutes until you see the village which will be to your left.
